Life Span Development Essays - Curious George, Child Development

Life expectancy Development Essays - Curious George, Child Development Life expectancy Development In the book, Curious George rides a bicycle by H.A. Rey, George gets another bicycle from his companion. His companion advises him to be cautious with his new bicycle and to hold near the house while he is no more. George doesn't tune in to his companion and chooses to go investigating endlessly from the house. While investigating, George sees two young men playing with their toy pontoons and afterward concludes that he needs to play with a toy vessel. George made an arrangement (how to make the vessel) and afterward he completed the undertaking. George made himself a vessel out of paper. This is a case of stage two, 1-3 years, Erikson. In stage two, youngsters express their developing restraint by climbing, contacting, investigating, and attempt to get things done for themselves. (Dennis Coon) Though most youngsters in stage two would investigate their kitchen floor, or roof, not a stream! I likewise read the story, Curious George gets a decoration by H.A. Rey. In this story George makes a wreck in his companions house. George is on edge to tidy up the chaos before his companion returns home. The explanation that he is so anxious to tidy up the chaos is on the grounds that he is considering the potential outcomes of his activities. In the event that this were a genuine young man, he would think, I dont need to get rebuffed, so I will tidy up the chaos. Or then again, Oh, No! Im going to fall into huge difficulty! This is a case of Stage 1 the preconventional level, Kohlberg. On the off chance that his companion werent getting back home would George work so energetically to tidy up the chaos? I think not. In the second 50% of the book, George is approached to help an educator in a to some degree hazardous test. The educator that has solicited this from him says, obviously everything will be excused in the event that you are happy to go. (George got into a touch of difficulty while he was there.) George consents to this solicitation since he needs to satisfy others. George needs to be pleasant. For what reason would a youngster need to please others? This is on the grounds that they are attempting to keep away from dissatisfaction. This is a case of Stage 3, the regular level, Kohlberg. The last book that I read was Curious George by H.A. Rey. George is taken from his home in Africa, to a major boat. His companion advises him to run along and play however dont stumble into any difficulty. George vows to be acceptable. George discovered some ocean gulls on the deck, and saw that they could fly. He needed to fly as well. George attempted to fly, and fell into the sea. Clearly, George isn't thinking sensibly. He doesn't understand that he can not fly. This is a case of the preoperational stage, 2-7 years. Piaget. I have another case of the preoperational stage not identified with the book. My younger sibling, Zo, is 4 years of age. My mom as of late got her a customized melody tape. In the start of the tape it requests that her holler out her name. She shouts, Zo!!. At that point it says Zo?! That is a pleasant name! All through the tape her name is remembered for the entirety of the melodies. She believes that the individual talking can extremely here her! Presently, refocusing. In the wake of falling into the sea George is safeguarded and by and by guarantees that he won't stumble into any more difficulty. For what reason would a genuine kid choose this in the event that he/she were in a similar circumstance? They would act along these lines since they would consider their own needs. They wouldn't have any desire to fall into the water again or be disturbed in any capacity. This is a case of stage two, the preconventional stage, delight looking for direction. All in all, I have discovered these phases to remain constant, in my very own life, and in childrens storybooks. Its extremely incredible to at long last comprehend why my younger sibling acts the manner in which she does!

He cherished his local city more than his own spirit, and he was liberal, fervent, and essentially strict. He was secretary of the ten-man gathering that directed the discretionary dealings and administered the military tasks of the republic, and his obligations included missions to the French lord (1504, 1510-11), the Holy See (1506), and the German sovereign (1507-8). We will compose a custom paper on The Prince explicitly for you for just $16.38 $13.9/page Request now Throughout his conciliatory missions inside Italy he got familiar with a significant number of the Italian rulers and had the option to examine their political strategies, especially those of the minister and officer Cesare Borgia, who was around then occupied with growing his possessions in focal Italy. From 1503 to 1506 Machiavelli revamped the military guard of the republic of Florence. Albeit soldier of fortune armed forces were normal during this period, he wanted to depend on the enrollment of local soldiers to guarantee a changeless and devoted safeguard of the region. In 1512, when the Medici, a Florentine family, recaptured power in Florence and the republic was broken down, he was denied of office and quickly detained for supposed scheme against them. After his discharge he resigned to his bequest close to Florence, where he composed his most significant works. Regardless of his endeavors to pick up favor with the Medici rulers, he was never reestablished to his unmistakable government position. At the point when the republic was briefly restored in 1527, he was associated by numerous republicans with expert Medici leanings. Machiavellis strategy included the exact perception of human instinct and conduct, which he accepted to be invariable. His profound emotions about the debasement and defilement of Italy at his time drove him to place his expectation into the challenging and the savagery of an incredible man who might practice power heartlessly however with reasonability. Force, Machiavelli evidently accepted, legitimized the state, if sanely applied, by a man ready to control the individuals and utilize the military for his own motivations. As he continued looking for another ruler and another guideline of strategy he realized that he was opening a street so far untrodden by man. The street prompted irrefutably the sovereign state. Machiavellianism, as a term, has been utilized to portray the standards of intensity legislative issues, and the kind of individual who utilizes those standards in political or individual life is every now and again depicted as a Machiavellian.Out of a longing to stun his counterparts, Machiavelli got a kick out of the chance to show up more underhanded than he was. This, along with certain unpolished sayings in his works, gave him a notoriety for unethical behavior. The proverbs turned into an objective for assaults by the Catholic Counter-Reformation; and the word Machiavellianism was begat as a term of insult by the French, out of disdain for everything Italian. He was a substitute since he was an incredible man and in light of the fact that he was lamentable. Machiavellis term umanita (humankind) implies more than thoughtfulness; it is an immediate interpretation of the Latin humanitas. Machiavelli infers that he imparted to the people of yore a sovereign knowledge of human undertakings. He likewise portrays that hypothesis of perusing as a functioning and even forceful interest that was basic among humanists. Having a book and understanding its words were insufficient; diagnostic capacity and a scrutinizing mentality were essential before a peruser could genuinely enter the committees of the incredible. These committees, also, were not just genuine and praising; they held privileged insights accessible just to the shrewd, insider facts the information on which could change life from a disorderly randomness into an essentially chivalrous encounter. Music Composition Pirate’s Dinner Adventure Free Essays

Music has a way of adding life and energy to any performance, many musicals, commercials, films, live shows, and concerts sweeping people off of their feet by the colorful compositions of the musicians. In adding depth and dimension to characters, music has a way of bringing emotions to surface through the use of sound, meaningful beats and rhythms pulsing audible story tales into the ears and souls of the performers and audience members. Louder and more intense sounds, like deep booming, have the effect of grounding the music, while softer and often higher pitched compositions, like gentle piping, have the effect of lifting the music. We will write a custom essay sample on Music Composition: Pirate’s Dinner Adventure or any similar topic only for you Order Now Feelings such as anticipation, anger, joy, sorrow, peace, and frustration can be communicated through sound, and people are in tune with the ways in which music arouses them. These various types of sounds are produced by a wide range of unique instruments, including horns, drums, and strings. Each distinct instrument and sound has a part to play in the overall composition of the music, every element bringing a certain kind of meaning and emotionality to the overall performance. In experiencing the performance of the Pirate’s Dinner Adventure, one is thrust into a historical world of swashbuckling action, pirates taking to the stage, in boats and though water, in the battle for the ship of treasures and the princess. Each part of the musical composition has meaning and purpose, the deeper horns and drums creating a sense of anticipation and fear, a mixture of expectation and dread. This booming introduction is followed by the appearance of pirates on the stage, creeping through the water and floating in on their small boats, each one determined to fight to the finish and win the battle for riches and the lovely woman. This slow beating of the drums is threaded through with low to medium pitched horns, such as tubas, leading the skulking pirates closer to their final goal, the wealthy ship full of gold and the fine girl. Some pirates pop up above the water with knives in their mouths, surprising the audience, as the drums beat out in almost perfect synchronicity with their small splashes, and the leisurely gliding boats fill the viewers with dread as the music pipes out the horns, their stealthy movements and whispers carried by each rich tune. When the pirates raid the ship, the music explodes and quickens, higher pitched horns, such as trumpets, pound out the action of the climbing men, rope swinging pirates, firing canons, and sword fighting bandits. The soldiers lose control of their ship, and the music floods with horns, the shrill cries of the instruments sounding out the struggles and screams of a waterborne battlefield. The knives flying through the air and the pieces of the ship falling down onto the deck and into the water are pierced with drumming, and the pushing and falling people, the fighters, are suspended in a torrent of drumming and horns, each instrument pulsing out a rhythm which is busied yet integrated, hectic but blended to suit the frantic interweaving of battle. The music calms and the strings enter into the composition when the soldiers finally take control of their ship once again, having banished the pirates from the area, and having reclaimed their treasure and their princess. With the brash and brazen pirates effectively cast out, the peaceful and gliding sounds of the violins, flutes, and chimes bringing the culmination of the show to a soft and quiet ending. These higher pitched instruments are most effective when played lightly, the soothing tinkling of these sweet instruments resembling the gentle nature of the female, and symbolizing the safety of the princess and the treasure. This performance was extremely rich in musical emotionality, each instrument and sound bringing a certain and unique element of beauty and meaning to the piece. Initiating into the slow, deep beginning of anticipation, moving through the wild and loud rhythmic racket of battle, and culminating with the soft and gentle high sounds of peace was a poignant experience rich with significance. The magnificence of the deep drumbeat and shallow tubas was followed by the excited piping of trumpeters and quicker beats, finally cascading into the chiming flow of the violins and flutes. A story can be effective without the use of music, but telling a tale interwoven with melodies can capture elements of the heart and soul through the use of a comprehensive and engaging harmony of sounds. Paraphrasing and Plagiarism

Table of Contents Introduction When is it appropriate to paraphrase? Conclusion Works Cited Introduction Paraphrasing refers to the act of using the content or materials of another writer in your own words (UNSW para. 1). By and large, a paraphrase often tends to be a shorter version of the original text, with additional insights and points of views from the writers, ultimately culminating in a logical piece of writing that has a flow.Advertising We will write a custom term paper sample on Paraphrasing and Plagiarism specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Other writers have the tendency to forget the use of quotation marks when they have used the words or ideas or another author in their own work. As a result, they end up committing plagiarism (University of Virginia Honor Committee Supplement 2). It is important to note that even though a good paraphrase should be ideally your own work, nonetheless, you still need to cite the origi nal work or materials from where you obtained the ideas. A majority of the students fails to realize that they need to give credit to the original author even when they have paraphrased their work. Otherwise, such a piece of work is regarded as plagiarism. When is it appropriate to paraphrase? There are instances when paraphrasing may be justified. For example, assume that a student has to complete a term paper on the incidents of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder among war veterans. In this case, it is important to note that this is a scientific term paper and as such, there are certain key words or scientific terms that cannot be substituted in their meaning. For this reason, paraphrasing could be justified. In addition, paraphrasing may be necessary when the writer has been requested by an instructor to summarize a given article (for example, in the case of an annotated bibliography) within a limited number of words. In this case, the student has little choice of adding their own in cites and observation into such a piece of work. In addition, in case a writer feels that they are in a position to represent the contents of a given source in a more coherent manner in their own words, other than those of the author such as in the use of quotation marks, it becomes necessary therefore to paraphrase such a piece of work (University of Virginia Honor Committee Supplement 2). A proper paraphrase is one in which the writer has successfully managed to bring forth the idea(s) of another author is a more coherent and clear manner, better that the original writer (UNSW para 1). Even so, it is always important for the writer to give credit to the original authors of the ideas.Advertising Looking for term paper on communication strategies? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More For example, let us assume that a student has paraphrased the work of another writer using their own words but has failed to cite the original source. If the instructor manages to match some of the writer’s content with the work of the original author whom the writer failed to give credit by proper citing, the instructor would in such a case deem the student to have committed an act of plagiarism, as opposed to paraphrasing. Conclusion We need to realize that there is nothing wrong with using the ideas of other writers in our own work. However, when we fail to realize the need to give credit to the paraphrased work from another author, then we are indeed committing an act of plagiarism, and this is unethical. Therefore, discipline and the issue of ethics are important in academia because without these, we would not give credit to the authors attributed to the original ideas of our work. The 4 Stages of Adlerian Therapy

The 4 Stages of Adlerian Therapy Individual therapy, or Adlerian therapy, is an approach in which a therapist works with a client to identify obstacles and create effective strategies for working towards their goals. Adlerians believe that, by gaining insight into challenges, people can overcome feelings of inferiority. Moreover, Adlerians believe that people are most fulfilled when they are working towards the social interest; that is, when they are doing things that are beneficial for society as a whole. Key Takeaways: Adlerian Therapy Adlerian therapy, also known as individual therapy, emphasizes the individual’s ability to bring about positive change in his or her own life.Adlerian therapy consists of four stages: engagement, assessment, insight, and reorientation. In Adler’s theory, individuals work to overcome feelings of inferiority and to act in ways that benefit the social interest. Four Stages of Adlerian Therapy In Adler’s approach to therapy, termed individual psychology or Adlerian psychology, therapy progresses through a series of four stages: Engagement. The client and therapist begin to establish the therapeutic relationship. The relationship should consist of collaboration towards addressing the clients problems. The therapist should offer support and encouragement.Assessment. The therapist works to learn more about the clients background, including early memories and family dynamics. In this part of therapy, the therapist attempts to understand how the client may have developed certain styles of thinking that are no longer helpful or adaptive for them.Insight. The therapist offers an interpretation of the client’s situation. The therapist suggests theories about how past experiences may have contributed to issues the client is currently experiencing; importantly, the therapist leaves it up to the client to decide whether these theories are accurate and useful.Reorientation. The therapist helps the client to develop new strategies that the client can use in daily life. Feelings of Inferiority One of Adler’s most well known ideas is that everyone experiences feelings of inferiority (i.e. worries that one is not achieving enough). Among psychologically healthy individuals, these feelings of inferiority encourage the pursuit of goals, providing motivation to strive towards self-improvement. In other words, by developing positive ways of coping with feelings of inferiority, individuals can end up achieving great things and making a positive contribution to society as a whole. However, some individuals have difficulty coping with feelings of inferiority, which leads them to feel discouraged. Other individuals may cope with feelings of inferiority in unproductive ways, like behaving selfishly in order to feel superior to others. In Adlerian therapy, the therapist works to provide the client the support and encouragement they need in order to cope more effectively with feelings of inferiority and to develop healthy ways of overcoming these feelings. Social Interest One of Adler’s other key ideas was the concept of the social interest. According to this idea, people are at their best- their psychologically healthiest and most fulfilled- when they act in ways that benefit society. For example, a person high in social interest might go out of their way to help others, while a person with lower levels of social interest may bully others or act in antisocial ways. Importantly, levels of social interest can change over time. A therapist can help their client increase his or her levels of social interest. Alfred Adlers Life and Legacy Alfred Adler was born in the suburbs outside of Vienna, Austria in 1870. He studied medicine at the University of Vienna, graduating in 1895. After medical school, Adler first worked as an ophthalmologist, but later decided to study psychiatry. He was initially a colleague of Sigmund Freud, with whom he cofounded the Vienna Psychoanalytic Society. However, he later split with Freud and went on to develop his own ideas about psychiatry. Adler developed the approach to therapy known as individual psychology, and in 1912, he founded the Society of Individual Psychology. Today, Adler’s influence can be found in numerous areas of psychology. Many his ideas have found support in the burgeoning field of positive psychology, and his emphasis on the individual’s social context (e.g. family setting and larger culture) is supported in many branches of contemporary psychology. How to Write and Format an MBA Essay

How to Write and Format an MBA Essay What Is an MBA Essay? The term MBA essay is often used interchangeably with MBA application essay or MBA admissions essay. This type of essay is submitted as part of the MBA admissions process and is usually used to provide support for other application components like transcripts, recommendation letters, standardized test scores, and resumes. Why You Need to Write an Essay Admissions committees sort through a lot of applications in each round of the admissions process. Unfortunately, there are only so many places that can be filled in a single MBA class so a vast majority of the candidates who apply will be turned away. This is especially true of top MBA programs that receive thousands of applicants each school year. Many of the applicants who apply to business school are qualified MBA candidates- they have the grades, the test scores, and the work experience needed to contribute to and succeed in an MBA program. Admissions committees need something beyond a GPA or test scores to differentiate applicants and determine who is a good fit for the program and who is not. This is where the MBA essay comes into play. Your MBA essay tells the admissions committee who you are and helps to set you apart from other applicants. Why You Dont Need to Write an Essay Not every business school requires an MBA essay as part of the admissions process. For some schools, the essay is optional or not required at all. If the business school does not request an essay, then you don’t need to write one. If the business school says the essay is optional, then you should DEFINITELY write one. Dont let the opportunity to differentiate yourself from other applicants pass you by. MBA Essay Length Some business schools put strict requirements on the length of MBA application essays. For example, they may ask applicants to write a one-page essay, a two-page essay, or a 1,000-word essay. If there is a desired word count for your essay, it is very important to adhere to it. If you are supposed to write a one-page essay, dont turn in a two-page essay or an essay that is only a half-page long. Follow instructions. If there is not a stated word count or page count requirement, you have a little more flexibility when it comes to length, but you should still limit the length of your essay. Short essays are typically better than a long essay. Aim for a short, five-paragraph essay. If you cant say everything you want to say in a short essay, you should at least stay below three pages. Remember, admissions committees read thousands of essays - they dont have time to read memoirs. A short essay demonstrates that you can express yourself clearly and concisely. Basic Formatting Tips There are some basic formatting tips that you should follow for every MBA essay. For example, it is important to set the margins so that you have some white space around the text. A one-inch margin on each side and on the top and bottom is typically good practice. Using a font that is easy to read is also important. Obviously, a silly font like Comic Sans should be avoided. Fonts like Times New Roman or Georgia are typically easy to read, but some of the letters so have funny tails and embellishments that are unnecessary. A no-frills font like Arial or Calibri is usually your best option. Formatting a Five Paragraph Essay Many essays - whether they are application essays or not - utilize a five-paragraph format. This means that the content of the essay is split into five separate paragraphs: One introductory paragraphThree body paragraphsOne concluding paragraph   Each paragraph should be about three to seven sentences long. If possible try to create a uniform size for the paragraphs. For example, you dont want to start with a three-sentence introductory paragraph and then follow up with an eight-sentence paragraph, a two sentence paragraph and then a four-sentence paragraph. It is also important to use strong transition words that help the reader move from sentence to sentence and paragraph to paragraph. Cohesion is key if you want to write a strong, clear essay. The introductory paragraph should start with a hook - something that captures the readers interest. Think about the books you like to read. How do they start? What grabbed you on the first page? Your essay isnt fiction, but the same principle applies here. Your introductory paragraph should also feature some sort of thesis statement, so the topic of your essay is clear. The body paragraphs should contain details, facts, and evidence that support the theme or thesis statement introduced in the first paragraph. These paragraphs are important because they make up the meat of your essay. Dont skimp on information but be judicious - make every sentence, and even every word, count. If you write something that doesnt support that main theme or point of your essay, take it out.   The concluding paragraph of your MBA essay should be just that - a conclusion. Wrap up what you are saying and reiterate your main points. Do not present new evidence or points in this section.   Printing and Emailing Your Essay If you are printing out your essay and submitting it as part of a paper-based application, you should print the essay out on plain white paper. Do not use colored paper, patterned paper, etc. You should also avoid colored ink, glitter, or any other embellishments designed to make your essay stand out.   If you are emailing your essay, follow all of the instructions. If the business school requested it to be emailed with other application components, you should do that. Do not email the essay separately unless you are instructed to do so - it could get in someones inbox. Finally, be sure to use the correct file format. For example, if the business school requested a DOC, that is what you should send.

Greek Mythology Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 1

Greek Mythology - Essay Example In the Iliad, war is portrayed as useless, violent, and dreadful. War negatively affects all those involved: the warrior, families, and communities. It only brings destructions. There are no definite victors in the Iliad. Vast portions of populations die for nothing due to some of the warriors’ conceit and sentimental choices. For instance, Achilles brings about the demise of his comrade by initially declining to participate in the war, placing the Greek army at a weak position, and afterwards wrongly encouraging his comrade Patroclus to get involved in the war. Even the preliminary root of the war, the abduction of Helen by Paris, a lady from Greece, is an impulsive, unthinking, and self-centered action. Even though the impact of war on is a main issue in Homeric epics, he did not venerate the idea of war and cruelty in his epics. Rather, he embodied the idea of warfare as a natural element of human existence, and that men are encouraged to participate in and that should not perhaps be taken for granted. Though revered war might appear throughout the three abovementioned epics, a comprehensive and detailed analysis of the epics unearths the inconsequential effect of war on warriors, families, and communities. Readers may think that war was a celebrated and adored element of society. Remarkable and brave warriors are treated like gods, and they are considered a supernatural generation of human beings. Nevertheless, in truth, all wars are staged because of personal motives, especially those related to self-indulgence and covetousness. The moral premise given to the concept of war differs greatly from one scholar to another. For instance, the Iliad views war as a requirement of human life and hence the war is a representation of human existence itself, an existence where in the greatest values are demonstrated in tragic bravery. In the other Homeric poem, the Odyssey, there is a firm and

Sir Isaac Newton as the Father of Modern Science in Scientific History Research Paper

Sir Isaac Newton as the Father of Modern Science in Scientific History - Research Paper Example Though in the field of physical science his predecessors have excelled in theoretical explanations of the behavior of the physical world, Newton provided theories a solid mathematical ground. He is mostly remembered because of his book â€Å"Philosophia Principia Mathematica† in which he explains the behaviors of moving bodies. Indeed the later development of Einsteinium Physics was greatly contributed to by the Newton’s the ideas and theories that he discussed in â€Å"Principia†. The book â€Å"Principia† brought him the fame and made him a public figure because of its importance to change the commoners’ view of the universe. Obviously Newton’s idea of the universe dominated the knowledge of the physics till Albert Einstein came up with a relative view of the universe in his theory of Relativity. Indeed even after the publishing of Einstein’s Theory of Relativity, Newton concept of the universe continued to teach people about the sys tem and functionality of the universe. Newton’s Contribution to Mathematics Newton’s career began with his study on calculus. Though he invented calculus solely, the credit of inventing calculus fell upon the part of German scientist Leibniz. Anyway, in 1669 on the subject of infinite series Newton’s study paper "De analysi per aequationes numero terminorum infinitas" was greatly appreciated by his contemporaries. Regarding Newton’s genius Isaac Barrow’s comment was as following: "Mr Newton, a fellow of our College, and very young ... but of an extraordinary genius and proficiency in these things." ... Indeed Newton’s Principia was not written in the language of Calculus, though he comprehensively used infinitesimal calculus in geometric forms. In Principia, Newton effectively employed â€Å"limiting values of the ratios of vanishing small quantities† naming it â€Å"the method of first and last ratios.† (Newton, 1727, p. 46) The use of â€Å"limiting values of the ratios of vanishing small quantities† through the method of indivisibles was the first step to employ calculus in explaining the universe. As a result modern scholars often called Principia â€Å"a book dense with the theory and application of the infinitesimal calculus.† (Truesdell, 1968, p. 99) Indeed Newton was â€Å"distinctly advanced every branch of mathematics then studied† (Ball, 1908, p. 67). During his lifetime Newton significantly contributed to the development and a number of fields of mathematics such as â€Å"generalized binomial theorem†, â€Å"Newton's ide ntities†, â€Å"Newton's method†, â€Å"classified cubic plane curves†, â€Å"theory of finite differences†, and â€Å"use of fractional indices and coordinate geometry to obtain solutions to Diophantine equations† (Truesdell, 1968, p. 68). Newton’s Contribution to Physics One of Newton’s most remarkable contributions to science of his age was â€Å"the invention, design and construction of a reflecting telescope† (Gjertsen, 1986, p. 122) . This telescope had been considered as a significant advancement in the field of telescope technology. But his contributions to Optics were of greater importance. Newton spent several years investigating the refraction of light and invented that white light passed through a prism would decompose into a spectrum

This means over 900 million Indians consumes biscuits, with varying frequency in a year. From the supply side the market is highly competitive, with many small scale manufactures and the organized large scale sectors. [Source http://www.superbrandsindia.com/images/superbrands_book_2004/britannia/index.htm] After the 1997 Britannia changed its strategies from product oriented to opportunity oriented. Earlier Britannia has narrow lined products mainly for kids but when the trends. Preferences and taste of common man changed Britannia also added number of varieties in its products and they in real sense used the opportunity in making the products, Britannia widen its product line which follows the STP. They served the products for all the categories of people, now biscuit is not only meant for guest but also for the individuals by introducing tiger biscuits in small packs. Britannia holds about 46% of market share (Note1) by value in the fiercely competitive market. Targeting the key consumers and and changing the products with opportunity has worked for the Britannia and thats why they are the leader in the biscuit range. Note 1 Source http://www.superbrandsindia.com/images/superbrands_book_2004/britannia/index.htm Product Portfolio of Britannia Britannias entire product offering derive their premium qualities from the principles of health and taste. While the tiger brand is aimed for 7-14 year olds and provides them with the exuberant health required by winners of tomorrow. The pack retails for 100 Rupees. The company also reformulated its 50:50 Maska Chaska biscuits. Sourcing Strategy: Outsourcing Vs Manufacturing With only four plants located in the country, its hard to imagine how Britannia Industries Ltd. became one of the largest food companies in India. But thanks to the companys system of outsourcing a significant quantity of products, Britannia is able to offer more than 13 brands and more than 200 SKUs for its customers in India and around the world. The companys plants are located in Indias four major metropolitan cities Kolkata in eastern India, Chennai in southern India and Delhi and Uttaranchal in northern India. Combined, these facilities employ more than 4,300 people and yet only make 30% of the companys products. Sixty-one other contracted factories produce the remaining 70% of Britannias product line. Its a distributed manufacturing strategy in Britannia Industries Limited designed to optimize the delivered cost to the consumer. Outsourcing manufacturing is a model used by many other companies in India, both in the consumer packaged and durable goods segment in such companies Britannia Industries Limited and Hindustan Unilever limited are effectively using this strategy. The 61 factories contracted to produce Britannia products do not produce any other products at their locations. Certain brands and product varieties are made at particular facilities. Even though the contracted facilities are not owned by Britannia, they are monitored by company representatives to ensure quality control. For example in the northern region of India there are eight manufacturing units including Britannia Industries limited New Delhi, where Britannia has outsourced its manufacturing. And for the quality control there is a Quality Assurance Team guided by Quality Assurance Manager Mr. Dev Raj Dabas. A brief introduction of these eight is given below: French Foods Faridabad Gokul Foods Kanpur RKM Foods Kandrori BIL New Delhi Delta Foods Biscuits Gaziabad Delta Foods Cake Gaziabad JB Managaram Gawalior Super Snacks Gaziabad Britannia generally launches products that offer the company good returns, supporting these through brand building and leveraging on its nationwide supply chain. Sales and Distribution of Britannia Britannia two different kinds of distribution networks one is for dairy products and other one is Bakery products. Here distribution network of bakery products has been discussed. In Bakery products Britannia applies two kind of distribution system. These are given below: Mass Distribution Selective Distribution 1. Mass Distribution Britannia use to produce general FMCG products which are in form of packaged food and which need not to have very special kind of distribution strategy. Like other FMCG companies Britannia also use mass distribution system. Since all almost all the products of Britannia are of low price, repeat purchase items, and does not require much of effort from customer side. So ultimately these products are sold on mass distribution basis. Mass Distribution Structure of Britannia for Bakery Products: CF Distributor 1 Retailers Consumers Distributor 2 Distributor 3 Factory There are four CF of Britannia in NCR region: Mudka Bahadurgarh Bakoli Gaziabad Kundali- Sonipat 49 distributors are working under these four CF. The distribution network of Britannias products from top to bottom is given below: First of all stock is sent to these CF, and then this stock is sent to the various distribution canters of Britannia. All of these distribution centers do not contain products of any other brand. Now this supply of stock is based on full e-network. This system has been provided a particular terminology i.e. UDAAN PACKAGE. In this system the accountant who is in distribution center submits an online order to the CF. Then in CF the order for a particular distribution center is automatically generated and further fulfills by CF. Britannia has established these CF at very appropriate locations. As soon as there is a demand generated in any distribution centre These CF are able to fulfill the demand within four to six hours. So it is clear that CF provides quick delivery to the distribution centre. But in order to meet this demand the CF also has to keep some inventory with it. Now if we talk according to the distribution point of view we will find that Distribution Centre has to also make some inventory in order to meet any kind of scarcity or instant demand. According to Mr. Randhir Kumar, (Territory Sales Incharge, Britannia Industries Limited), the distribution center has to maintain inventory of three days. Now the distribution of stock from the distributor to retailer can be further explained by taking a distributor Keshav Enterprises. Keshav Enterprises is the distributor near Kishan Garh Vasant Kunj; handles 850-1000 outlets. The area which a distributor covers is also very large. E.g. Keshav Enterprises handles Munirka, R.K. Puram, South Moti Bagh, Vasant Kunj, Sataya Niketan, Mahipal Pur, Kapashera Border, Bijwasan, Nangal Dairy and Vasant Vihar. There are 49 such distributors of Britannia in Delhi. Under this distributor five sales men work and they cover the entire area which is mentioned above. Here the distribution is again divided into two parts i.e. distribution for General Shops Key Account Outlets (KAT) 1). General Shops Distribution to general shops is done by two sales men. They cover 30 to 40 outlets every day. Now the number of these outlets is not content, it varies time by time as they are not very loyal to the company and also does not contribute to very prominent sale. 2). Key Account Outlets (KAT) These outlets are covered by two sales men and they take order from these outlets biweekly. These sales men visit twenty to twenty five outlets every day. These outlets are very much loyal to the company and provide prominent business to the company. So from the sales point of view these outlets are very important. Now the stock is moved from distributor to the retailers. For selling the stock on the retail outlets there are two processes: Order Booking Ready Stock 1). Order Booking There are separate sales teams who perform this task. For example one sales team has to go for order booking. In this process the salesman first go to shop to shop and book the orders from there. On the other day or some times on the same day the delivery van goes every where in order to fulfill the orders. Now due to this method distributor not only gains the sales as well as looses the sale. Order booking process is done in Britannia on Biweekly or Weekly basis. Some times Order Booking and Ready Stock both the task are performed by the same sales man. Benefits of Order Booking In this process the distributor always remains in better position to forecast the demand. As the sales man has already an order list. This helps not only to the distributors but also to the CF as well as finally to the factory in order to make more realistic demand. Since the sales man does not have to do more but to book the order, it enables the sales man to search out the new opportunities in the market. It helps not only to the company but also to the sales man as sales man gets special rewards from the company side. Since during this process the sales man gets extra time in which he/she gets enough time to interact with the retailer which is again very important. Actually the retailer does not want only profit but also a better respect and courtesy from the salesman. So in such situations if the retailer is getting good time with the salesman, surely he will be more loyal to the company. Also during this period the sales man could increase the visibility of its products in the shelves of the shop keeper. Drawbacks of Order Booking Along with all these benefits there are some drawbacks also involved in this advance booking process. Some times sales man takes orders from the shopkeeper and assures him that the order will be fulfilled on next day. But during this period the sales man of other company comes and provides the same product at some discounts or with some schemes in this condition the shopkeeper takes the stock from that sales man. 2). Ready Stock In this process the sales man carry the team along with him which contain a delivery van, a driver, and one or two helpers. The sales man takes order from the shops and also places the order at the spot. There are following benefits and drawbacks of this method. Almost thirty to forty outlets are visited by this way. Benefits of Ready Stock The retailer gets stock on the spot without any delay. The sales man does not give a chance to the retailer to switch any other brand. The defected stock is replaced on the spot. Drawbacks of Ready Stock The sales man does not get enough time; he simply dumps the stock and moves from one store to another store. Even then he does not cover many retailers, as the delivery process takes a lot of time. What amount of stock should be carried by the sales man is also can not be predicted. The sales man moves to pre decided path and could not find new shops, so the market penetration by the sales man is also very rare in this case. 2. Selective Distribution Selective distribution is done for premium products of Britannia. There are eight SKUs, for which Britannia uses selective distribution. These brands are: Chochlor Intoxication Almond Addiction Chocolus Addiction These products are very costly and lie between the prices ranges of Rs. 150 to Rs. 200. Now these products are not supplied by the distribution centre but directly from CF. These distributions are done through the Merchandiser Team. Merchandiser Team is elaborated in further pages. Merchandiser takes order from these exclusive shops and transfers this order to the CF. Now CF sends the stock and the billing is done by the respective distribution centre. Selective Distribution Structure of Britannia for Bakery Products Exclusive Retail Outlet Exclusive Retail Outlet Exclusive Retail Outlet Exclusive Retail Outlet CF CF Factory The Challenges To compete effectively, Britannia found that it was essential to get sales people out in front of customers yet this isolated them from their ordering systems. Managers wanted to enable remote working to allow more time to be spent with customers, while providing easier access to ordering and production management tools. The Solution Use of ERP based solution in Supply Chain It is recommended that Britannia implement mySAP ERP applications for the high performance and highly scalable IBM technologies. The mySAP ERP software enables full access to companys inventory, production planning, sales order systems accessed through a simple Web browser and SAP client. The Benefits: Britannia can expect to achieve around 30 per cent lower database administration costs, with better technical performance leading to increased productivity . Sales team can complete orders quickly without waiting to return to the office; Britannia can provide information on pricing of the existing product and stock-availability in real time; lower software license fees for remote systems and reduced administrative and maintenance workload means a significant reduction in TCO. The ERP functions from the perspective of supply chain optimization are shown in following flowchart. Overall process optimization Expense optimization Revenue and Profit optimization Logistics optimization Knowledge optimization ERP optimization at various stages of supply chain The business value of the ERP system includes: Streamlined supply chain and accurate information. Reduced supply chain costs. Increased sales through accurate product availability. The following figure highlights IT components in ERP, IT infrastructure and resources in SCM. Campare and Contraste Essay

In his article â€Å"Driving While Stupid,† Dave Barry shares his experience of bad drivers. He talks about many scenarios that are taking place in many places. He first starts by stating that downtown Miami is home to the worst drivers. He claims that although some may try to say otherwise, that there is no way to compete with Miami on the worst driver scale. Barry backs up his clam by giving examples of how he has driven in every major U.S. city as well as in Italy, where there is only one traffic law, in an Argentinean city of Mar del Plata, literally meaning â€Å"Cover your  eyes,† and in China, where buses ‘encourage’ people to get out of the way. He says he has seen many insane drivers and situations, but that didn’t stop him from being surprised with one of his own experiences; the night when a driver in a convertible on the interstate I-95 was weaving back and forth going maybe 600 miles per hour. The observation Barry makes is that the driver was watching a music video on a video screen installed in his sun visor. Barry goes on to say that there are many drivers who distract themselves by cell phones, reading, eating, etc, while driving, but at least, unlike the guy on the interstate, they are able to see the road from time to time. The level of comedy that Barry used in his article is high. By using deliberate and obvious exaggeration and sarcasm to convey the fact that drivers should pay more attention to the road, and less to other crazy activities.

Research Setting And Context Of Public School - 1849 Words

Research Setting and Context The research site selected for this study was decided upon by the researcher. Taking into consideration the researcher knows and understands all aspects of the district in addition to having established a strong, trusting relationship with the school, parents, and community while serving the district in multiple capacities over the past twenty-one years. This gave the researcher the opportunity and abilities to select the research sites they felt comfortable with while expressing their comments and feelings. The two sites selected within the Oilton Public School district in north central Oklahoma encompasses Timothy C. Arnold Middle School, serving approximately 80 students in grades 6-8, and Oilton High†¦show more content†¦The researcher will conduct a multi-site case study using 35 parents, 5 from each school site whose child attends Timothy C. Arnold Middle School or Oilton High School. Each school site has similar demographics, school cultur e, and school climate. Students from various ethnic backgrounds such as Caucasian, Native American, and Hispanic represent the two building site populations.
